5 Shows After Dark: Decisions, Decisions

"Boardwalk Empire" on HBO at 9:00pm ET.

"Liz and Dick" on Lifetime at 9:00pm ET. This is the infamous Lindsay Lohan as Elizabeth Taylor disaster. Courtney will be live blogging it for your entertainment pleasure. I still haven't decided if I'm going to be watching or not, as I can see compelling arguments from both sides. I mean, I realize it's going to be a cultural event for a certain segment of the population and I do hate to not be 100% up to date on my cultural reference points. On the other hand, I've faked familiarity with Ferris Bueller's Day Off with only the barest of awareness for this long, and I'm certain Liz and Dick won't have that large of an impact.

"The Walking Dead" on AMC at 9:00pm ET.

"Homeland" on Showtime at 10:00pm ET.

"Treme" on HBO at 10:00pm ET. Third season finale. The show will return for a fourth and final season, though a shortened one.

Genevieve Burgess realizes she just admitted to never seeing Ferris Bueller's Day Off and expects to be kidnapped and strapped into that Clockwork Orange chair any minute now.

Comments Are Welcome, Bigots and Trolls Are Not

I too have never seen 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off'. Mind you, I am speaking from the safety of anonymity, so there's really no fear of retribution.

  • Buck Forty

So when you came to the question "when was the last time you watched 'Ferris Bueller’s Day Off'"? on the Pajiba Intern Application Form you just wrote 'never'?
Damn, girl must have some mad skills...
(if you know what I'm saying and I think we all do so I won't even bother with the 'wink wink, nudge nudge' portion of this slur on your legitimate writing talents)

Though it's British and woefully forgotten, "Peep Show" premieres tonight.

I really dig "Community," but it's a damn shame that "Peep Show" is basically ignored when it comes to the best TV shows around.

  • Koala Is Not a Bear

Just watched the first five seasons. The show is inspired and pushes the boundaries the way few other series attempt to do. It's on par with "The Thick of It".

Have you heard that a US version of "Peep Show" has been commissioned?

I fear much will be lost in translation, as the glorious seediness is inevitably sanitised.

They tried to do an American version, starring Johnny Galecki of "Big Bang Theory" and "Roseanne" fame, and SNL's Seth Meyers' brother whose first name I forget, nor is really important to be worth remembering. They didn't bother with the first-person POV and it never made it past the pilot stage. They're trying again. this time with Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong, the original creators, on another network.

I pray to Christ it dies at the conception stage once again. The original is proper enough.

  • Koala Is Not a Bear

    Amen.

  • googergieger

For those wondering what the Liz and Dick drinking game is. You drink until Lindsay Lohan looks like how she used to look like before she became the worlds saddest joke. I mean still funny all said and done. But yeah, sad.

  • Hmmm... Lindsay Lohan or The Walking Dead?

    But I repeat myself.

  • Koala Is Not a Bear

    No "Good Wife"?

  • Rochelle

Do we really want to encourage Lifetime's behavior by watching this movie? On the other hand, do I have anything better to do tonight?

  • e jerry powell

They've already been spoiled because people watched that shitty Steel Magnolias remake.

  • I just like that someone named Burgess made a Clockwork Orange joke.

  • Jen

I'm 42 years old and there have been only two movies that I seen in the theater that made me laugh so hard I was in pain wishing there was a pause button I could push and Ferris Bueller's day off was one of them. The other I will take to my grave.

  • superasente

Paul Blart Mall Cop. You can say it.

  • BWeaves

I've never seen Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and I can say I've lived a pretty full life.

  • Long_Pig_Tailor

You only think that because you've never seen Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Unless-- have you ever just hijacked a parade float for an impromptu musical number? Or impersonated a regional meat magnate? While dating Mia Sara?

If not, your life is a duller, grayer place for not having at least vicariously experienced that wonder.

  • Blake

    BOBS BURGERS!!! @ 8:30.

  • The Heretic

Faked Ferris Bueller? Burgess, you are dead to me.

    D.E.D.

    Dead!
