5 Shows After Dark

“Dance Moms” on Lifetime at 9:00pm ET. Second season premiere. This is one of those shows here the only familiarity I have with it comes from watching “The Soup” but it seems to involve yelling at young girls, inappropriate but sparkly costumes, and overbearing mothers in a non-pageant context. So… enjoy?

“Dirty Jobs” on Discovery at 9:00pm ET.

“Shipping Wars” on A&E at 9:00pm ET. Series premiere. I’m getting a little sick of the “Wars” theme with naming new reality series. I’m sure the shipping business is pretty competitive and that the people working in it feel very strongly about their rivalries, but calling it a war is a little much unless someone is literally planting IEDs to take out other trucks. The same goes for cupcakes, brides, storage containers, and whatever or whoever else is supposed to be at war with each other lately.

“Swamp Loggers” on Discovery at 10:00pm ET. Fourth season finale.

“Tabatha Takes Over” on Bravo at 10:00pm ET. Fourth season premiere.

As much as I adore Tabatha (the only thing good to come out of the Project Runway cloning experiments), the show is well past the shark, as a clone of a past-its-prime Gordon Ramsay show.

Call me an asshole, but I think the teacher on Dance Moms is anything but a shrew. She's dealing with crazy (and I mean certifiably, like "does Lifetime take their meds away for filming?" crazy) mothers screaming at her non-stop that their precious little snowflake isn't the lead in every dance. Us performing arts teachers have to learn to stand our ground and instruct students who won't shut up. She only yells at the parents and, frankly, they deserve it.

It's a terrible show, but that's besides the point. If the teacher just instituted a "no parents in the studio" rule, the drama would end immediately.

Honestly, don't give them ideas.

5 reality shows and no parenthood? :(

Swami: “Dance Moms”, “Dirty Jobs”, “Tabatha Takes Over”

Ed: “Dance Moms”, “Dirty Jobs”, “Tabatha Takes Over”

Swami: (cuts envelope, blows into it and pulls out card) -- Name three movies running on Cinemax after midnight.

As for “Swamp Loggers”, I did one of those on New Years day. Nachos and Tequila absolutely wrecked my intestines.

Ok, no comments on any of the actual shows, but congrats on outing your real name. Genevieve is actually a family name on my wife's side, and is both the middle name of my neice (Abigail Genevieve) and my mother-in-law (won't hold that against you). It's a pretty name, and IMO it suits you better than Rusty. So there. :-)

That sounds like an awesome idea. They should also stop Gordon Ramsay from yelling at people, and Simon Cowell from being rude and snarky. And if they could get rid of all the plotting and backstabbing on "Survivor" and use Parliamentary process at Tribal Council, that would be just peachy keen.
