5 Shows After Dark: Bottoms Up!

By Genevieve Burgess | Miscellaneous | October 3, 2012 | Comments ()

"2012 Presidential Debate #1" on ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC, and PBS at 9:00pm ET. They're all calling it something slightly different so I did my best to split the difference. I'm sure there's many an entertaining debate drinking game floating around the internets, because if there's anything this entire country has in common it's that politics drives us to drink no matter which side you're on.

"Supernatural" on The CW at 9:00pm ET. Eighth season premiere.

"How Booze Built America" on Discovery at 10:00pm ET. First season finale. I've really enjoyed this miniseries so far and am a little disappointed I won't be able to watch this one live due to life.

"Life After Top Chef" on Bravo at 10:00pm ET. Series premiere. I'd like to say I find it admirable that a reality series seems to be interested in checking up on its winners to make sure they're getting along well, but I'm not 100% sure that they'd visit anyone who wasn't. Guess we'll see.

"The Soup" on E at 10:00pm ET.

Genevieve Burgess Is thrilled to have worthwhile television to write about again. At least for the moment.

  • Mitt Romney

"I'm the king of the world, I am the greatest, I’m Mitt Romney, I shook up the world, I am the greatest, I'm king of the world, I'm pretty, I'm pretty, I'm a baaaad man, you heard me I'm a baaad man"

That was an awesome debate. if for no other reason than getting the reaction shots from the MSNBC crew.

A drinking game during a Presidential debate?

Well... Romney doesn't want Obama to mention Bain Capital or LDS. But apparently Obama is fair game to anything and everything, except his family of course.

How about chugging half a beer when Romney mentions anything pertaining to LGBT or DOMA. And a full one if Obama goes there, and mentions either Bain or Mormonism (forget it if he mentions both in the same sentence... you'll be taken to the emergency room for alcohol poisoning).

I'm going to take a shot every time they don't answer the question they were asked. Hey look at that, I'm somehow already drunk playing this game.

I HATE that and I don't think any politician should be allowed to get away with it. They should receive an electric shock or a demerit on some official document every time they evade a question. X many demerits = they get booted out of the race. I'm 100% serious about the booted part, if a person running for office can't answer a question without consulting with a committee he or she is too uninformed to run for office. If they waffle or are vague they are probably trying to prevent voters from making an informed decision. Therefore a politician should be held responsible for answering the question within some reasonable time frame that allowing them to research the question or get more updated information. Then the answer becomes a part of their permanent record/campaign platform.
