5 Shows After Dark: At Least Someone Finally Found a Light-Switch in That Lab

By Genevieve Burgess | Miscellaneous | October 23, 2013 | Comments ()

Fox Sports Special: World Series Game #1 on Fox at 7:30pm ET.

American Horror Story on FX at 10:00pm ET.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation on CBS at 10:00pm ET. 300th episode. And this aging hulk keeps limping along, shedding original cast members as it goes and working to rehab the careers of faded B-listers. It has officially outlasted both spin-offs, which is interesting as I can’t think of any other show that has managed that off the top of my head. I’m sure some of you can, though!

A Young Doctor’s Notebook on Ovation at 10:00pm ET. First season finale.

The League on FXX at 10:30pm ET. I was talking about this show with one of my friends the other day, and how I can only watch it in marathon sessions when I’m feeling particularly misanthropic. Because all of these characters are horrible people. All of them.

Genevieve Burgess welcomes bets on how much longer they’ll manage to keep ‘CSI’ on the air.

For The Love Of God, Show, I'm Trying To Like You: What We Learned From Last Night's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. | It's A 10-Second Teaser For A Trailer, But DAT CAP ASS: 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier'

Comments Are Welcome, Bigots and Trolls Are Not

  • It's an entirely different kind of show but Doctor Who has outlived K-9 and Company, Torchwood, and The Sarah Jane Adventures.

  • Gigi Agius

I can't think of a show that out lasted two spin-offs, but both Grey's Anatomy and The Mary Tyler Moore Show outlasted their successful spin-offs (Private Practice and Rhoda, respectively).

  • bcarter3

"The Mary Tyler Moore Show" also (just) outlasted another spin-off. "Phyllis", staring Cloris Leachman, ran its final episode 6 days before the MTM finale.

  • Gigi Agius

Ah, I forgot all about Phyllis. Good one.

  • Bert_McGurt

    CSI: Can't See Indoors

  • I had a hard time believing Elisabeth Shue was in CSI so I had to IMDB that shit and came across this photo. I guess that's revealing of the new plot ideas.

  • ed newman

and with a single image my boyhood crush is rekindled.

  • Al Borland's Beard

300 episodes of CSI? Well, that's depressing.

  • e jerry powell

Oh, GB, I know you're going to be watching Key & Peele anyway.

  • emmalita

    Woo! Key and Peele!

  • blacksred

How about It's always sunny and this is the epiosode with the Game of Thrones showrunners at the helm!

  • Legally Insignificant

A friend recently told me that Paul Scheerer's wife won't watch The League because of how poorly they treat Andre (played by her husband) on the show.

  • Guest

The worlds tiniest violin for Andre.

Scheerer is married to June Diane Raphael. He gets to go home to her (and work with her on NTSF) and spend his non League time watching her dance with Karen Gillan as part of his job.

  • Aw, that's kinda sweet. They are RIDICULOUSLY mean to that character, to the point that I have to look away sometimes.

  • Parsnip

Light switch...been a bug bear of mine since whenever, that and when they work crime scenes with only torchlight. This series can go on and on...I give it 15 seasons.

  • e jerry powell

The cast is aging to the extent that they need more light in the lab now.
