“Sunday Night Football: New York Jets at Baltimore Ravens” on NBC at 8:15pm.

“MLB Playoffs: Cardinals vs. Phillies” on TBS at 8:30pm ET.

“Dexter” on Showtime at 9:00pm ET. Sixth season premiere. Because there’s still more people out there who need killing in the TV version of South Florida. In the show’s tradition of importing a slew of new guest stars for each season, we’ll be seeing Colin Hanks, Edward James Olmos, and Mos Def for what I’m sure will be varying lengths of time.

“Pan Am” on ABC at 10:00pm ET.

“Homeland” on Showtime at 10:00pm ET. Series premiere. Starring Claire Danes as a CIA case officer who suspects that a war hero who has just been freed after eight years of captivity in Afghanistan is a sleeper agent for Al Qaeda. Also stars Pajiba crush object and star of the much lamented and very cancelled series “Life,” Damian Lewis.

Please remember to check your local listings for all times and channels.

Intern Rusty is contemplating a new internet moniker. You can find out more about her at Rusty’s Ventures and get makeup tips from her at Hot Ink.

I watch each season of Dexter over the course of a few days during Christmas break. The killing is better in condensed form.

How could you leave out Breaking Bad?

"I have no idea what Hammertime is, or how it differs from real time."

And then the human intestines show up.

This is why I watch Dexter.

watching Dexter lately has been a lot like watching House. I don't particularly like it but just can't not do it. I hope they change that this season.

Homeland, however, is pretty good. Inara's tits probably helped.

Again people severely underrate season five, only because if followed season four. Anything that would have followed the trinity killer season was going to be shite by comparison. I mean I despise the ten things I hate about you girl, but that season wasn't as bad as people say/think it was.

I thought Dexter got off to a great start and looks very promising. I happened to really enjoy season 5 - while it didn't have the same tension as seasons 1 or 4, I thought it was an interesting new angle on Dexter and his dark passenger. And, honestly, as long as they never sink to the level of suck that was Season 3 again, I'll be happy. This one looks to have some good big bads and some interesting developments for Dex.
