“Arrow” on The CW at 8:00pm ET. Series premiere. The year of the archer continues with a new version of the Green Arrow showing up on The CW. The actor playing Arrow/Oliver Queen looks like a budget version of Henry Cavil and the backstory sounds like Batman with a touch of Castaway mixed in. Still, year of the archer!

“Modern Family” on ABC at 9:00pm ET.

“Chicago Fire” on NBC at 10:00pm ET. Series premiere. A new show about a fire house and there’s been several shows about fire houses and emergency responders that have come and gone over the years. I wonder why hospital shows and cop shows are so successful but emergency responder shows don’t work out.

“Nashville” on ABC at 10:00pm ET. Series premiere. Tami Taylor is a country star, y’all! You know that’s the only reason you’re thinking of watching.

“The Soup” on E at 10:00pm ET.

Genevieve Burgess Is thrilled to have worthwhile television to write about again. At least for the moment.

  • My favorite thing about Emergency was when the eep oonk honk would go on and on. Then you knew that some major shit was going down, like a fire at a oil refinery or an airliner crash.

    And Nurse Dix instilled in me the appreciation of older women that has served me well all of my life.

    I thought Arrow was a spin-off of Smallville. It being a new show means it has a chance of being good?

    Gods, I hope it's not a spin-off. Granted, it could mean more Allison Mack in my life, but the chance for that would be the same for the rest of the actors of Smallville.

  • I'm afraid Chicago Fire needs to be cancelled because I will require there to be more seasons of Battleground, and thus Teri Reeves cannot be committed to another series.
