After months of news and rumors about endless reshoots and the possibility that the film would be canceled and shelved completely, the first trailer for Dark Phoenix, the newest film in the X-Men series and the last X-Men film made before Disney used the contents of their Money Bin to purchase Fox, is finally here after premiering last night on The Late Late Show with James Corden. (Whether the X-Men being brought into the Marvel Cinematic Universe is cause for celebration or a reason to drop to your knees and scream at the heavens Furiosa-style all depends on who you ask)

Will we finally get an onscreen version of Jean Grey/Phoenix/Dark Phoenix that everyone likes and thinks is awesome? Because as much as I love Famke Janssen, she was definitely not given the best material to work with in X-Men: The Last Stand and the less said about Jean Grey in the original X-Men animated series on FOX who would use her telepathy and/or telekinesis and then faint/call out for Cyclops almost every time she did so, the better.

Dark Phoenix opens in theaters on February 14, 2019.
