Oh, You Bet We're Going Back

Tonight is the season premiere of the sixth and final season of “Lost.” I’ve had a great time writing weekly recaps of the show for its fourth and fifth seasons, and I’m looking forward to going out with a bang this time around. “Lost” is this decade’s “Twin Peaks” or “The X-Files,” one of those pop mystery shows that gets as much out of the questions as it does the answers. (And believe me, I’ll get into that plenty over the course of the next few months.) But the purpose of this little post is just to let you all know that the “Lost” recaps have now been conveniently grouped into their own archive. It’s right up there in the navbar, but if you don’t believe me, just click here. I’m not sure which of our illustrious tech-minded staffers did the work, but just direct your compliments to me and I’ll make sure they’re heard at Pajiba High Command.

Also: Recaps this season will run the day after episodes air. I’m not sure yet what time of day, but I’d guess early afternoon on Wednesdays. Because I love you.

So that’s that. The two-part opener airs in a two-hour block tonight at 9 ET/8 CT, with an hour-long clip show airing right before that to catch everybody up. If you need more, check out last season’s recaps for a refresher on what’s happening, and give this video another look while you’re at it. I’ll see you all on the beach tomorrow.

WOOOT!

Completely forgot today was Tuesday, until about 11, at which point I predictably freaked the fuck out.

SQUIRT!

I mean, SQUEE! Nah, I mean squirt...

Now to read it and bask in Dan's forthcoming recaps...

Posted by: Patty O'Green at February 2, 2010 12:08 PM

I am SO EXCITED.

Posted by: Julie at February 2, 2010 12:09 PM

Oh snap, this site does LOST recaps? It's on, suckaz! Man I gotta hook up my TV antenna when I get home.

Posted by: the new transported man at February 2, 2010 12:09 PM

Our own ickle tab? Thank you, Godtopus! Although, if this had existed two years ago, I would probably never have fallen in lurve with Pajiba as a whole, because I was only here for Dan's recaps. So, all's well.

Posted by: Patty O'Green at February 2, 2010 12:10 PM

Can. Not. Wait. Must. Breathe......

Posted by: citizen_cris at February 2, 2010 12:19 PM

I love that video. The condensed story of Jack, Sawyer and Kate is a pretty good answer to the question "Why do you hate Jack and Kate so much?" THERE IT IS.

Eeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: figgy at February 2, 2010 12:20 PM

Next day recaps? WE LOVE YOU TOO, DAN!

I can't wait! I miss the luscious man-locks, and Ben, and desperately wishing for a comically large anvil to fall on Kate's head. YAY!

Posted by: jM at February 2, 2010 12:21 PM

My one night class has to occur exactly when Lost is on. Gadammit.
I'm really hoping abc puts the episodes online in a timely manner. Well, actually I just hope they put them online in general.
Pretty please?

WOO to the HOO!

the “Lost” recaps have now been conveniently grouped into their own archive.
I love you so much right now.

Recaps this season will run the day after episodes air.
And now I love you even more.

Mr. Carlson, I lurve your recaps and honestly, I've missed them as much as I've missed the show.

Posted by: Jerce at February 2, 2010 12:27 PM

I've been anticipating the premire, and looking forward to discussing it online afterwards (I know, I know . . . Dorkface McGee at TWoP . . . it's not my name but I'm there, being dorky . . . )

But then I cancel my cable, and then I promise to go to a gallery opening, so I won't even be able to see it as soon as it's online . . . why do I do this to myself? The anticipation is gonna kill me.

Posted by: Lauren at February 2, 2010 12:29 PM

Mere letters on a screen cannot begin to convey how excited I am for this. How about a long string of !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!? I just finished re-watching season 5 last night and am freshly up to date. Can't wait! And many thanks for the recaps Dan. The speedy nature is just the cream.

A rarely used phrase...

Jeez, with all the Lost hype, I'm tempted to watch it tonight even though the last season I saw was season 2. Darn all of you with your peer pressure!

Posted by: tamatha at February 2, 2010 12:35 PM

CAN'T FUCKING WAIT. Too bad I don't have cable and have to wait until it gets posted at abc.com.

Posted by: redoct at February 2, 2010 12:36 PM

Does ABC upload the new episodes to the internets after it airs on TV? I'm not sure I can wait for this season's DVDs.

Posted by: Scully at February 2, 2010 12:38 PM

I'm so excited that I want to play with myself right here at my desk.

Posted by: Sean at February 2, 2010 12:38 PM

redoct are all of the episodes posted to abc.com?

Posted by: Scully at February 2, 2010 12:39 PM

SawyerSawyerSawyerSawyerSawyerSawyerSawyerSawyerSawyerSawyerSawyerSawyerSawyerSawyerSawyerSawyerSawyerSawyerSawyerSawyerSawyerSawyerSawyerSawyer....

Why, yes, I am excited about the return of this fine television program. Why do you ask?

Posted by: dammitjanet at February 2, 2010 12:44 PM

Scully: yes, every episode gets put online. I believe you can watch the five most recent episodes at any given time.

Posted by: Sean at February 2, 2010 12:47 PM

SQUEE-i've been thinking about this nonstop since i woke up this morning!

thank you dan & pajiba!

YAY!!!!! at long last the wait is over :)

Posted by: meg at February 2, 2010 12:48 PM

I'm thrilled we won't have to wait so long for the recaps - it was excruciating, I tell you!

Let the games with our heads begin.

Posted by: Cindy at February 2, 2010 12:54 PM

The title should have read "Oh, you bet your ass we're going back."

Tuesday's just went up in my book. Can't wait to scream at the TV tonight. Yes, Lost makes me yell horrible and unexpected phrases laden with curses into the night.

Posted by: TVConnoisseur at February 2, 2010 1:19 PM

EEEEeeeeeeEEEEEEEeeeeeeEEEEEEEE!
*pant pant pant*

My co-workers are just DELIGHTED with me today, let me tell you.

Posted by: Anna von Beaverpuppet at February 2, 2010 1:26 PM

Great deadpan recap video. Excited for your reviews, Dan.

Posted by: kelsy at February 2, 2010 1:43 PM

I wish there was a way to tell Lost fanboys/girls to check their expectations and not expect every resolution to be what they wanted...but I didn't think that would happen to Battlestar Galactica and I got cybertronic angels.

So just remember: keep expectations low.

Posted by: Fredo at February 2, 2010 2:11 PM

It is going to be SO OSSOM. They'd just better deliver us the mind-blowing season they promised us. If they do, I'll never doubt J.J. Abrams again.

Posted by: Jelinas at February 2, 2010 3:02 PM

I know I'm going to ruffle some feathers, but I really cannot read the recaps.

They are always a too long overly winded and then article.

Howsabout some insight? Your thoughts on what happened? The tagline is "Scathing Reviews Bitchy People" but the recaps are more like "Here is what happened, line by boring line".

I watched the episode, I want to know what you think, not what you saw. Cuz' we saw the same thing, yknow?

Posted by: NY not NYC at February 2, 2010 3:05 PM

Yes. YES YES YES YES YES!

I am clapping my hands with glee and I don't care who sees me. I'll see you sonsofbitches back here tomorrow. Cindy, bring the knowledge, girl.

Posted by: Kolby at February 2, 2010 3:07 PM

AARRGGHH! It's not on in little old New Zealand yet. It will take every bit of my willpower to not read these recaps. And as the waistband of my pants can attest to, I don't have much willpower.

Posted by: wildflower at February 2, 2010 3:07 PM

Fredo, I'm with you on Team Lowered Expectations. I *want* to be excited, but all I can feel is dread at what is coming, mixed in with relief that it will all be over in a mere... ohgoddammit... 19 hours or so? I love Lost, but I feel like it is probably a selfish lover who will climax all over my face and leave me high and, most assuredly, dry.

Plus, I live in Finland, have no TV, and will have to watch the entire final season on pirate sites.

Posted by: The Wandering Parakeet at February 2, 2010 3:42 PM

yay!

Posted by: aidan at February 2, 2010 6:26 PM

Finland. New Zealand. Psssh. That's what y'all get for not living in a real country.

*runs*

Posted by: Jerce at February 2, 2010 6:39 PM

re ABC.com...how quick do they get those new eps up after the show airs? THere's always iTunes...

Posted by: stryker1121 at February 2, 2010 6:44 PM

it was awesome. i love lost :-)
