The 10 Best SNL Sketches of 2011

Thanks to a strong main cast, and four incredibly promising newbies who’ve seen more airtime than previous featured players (with the exception of poor Jay Pharoah), 2011’s SNL offerings were pretty strong. Sure, there were weak spots. Lots of them. But this is a time of celebration.

With that, here is the best SNL had to offer in 2011 (in airdate order).

Mr. Wizard’s World

This is the Tale of Captain Jack Sparrow

What’s That Name?

Red Flag

Arlene

“Someone Like You”

Kim Kardashian’s Fairytale Divorce

Jason Segel Monologue

Batman

Bublé Duets

NBC hates Canadians, what up with dat? what up with dat? SNL needs more of those sketches!

Fallon's Bieber and the Taylor Swift gets me everytime.

I, for one, would like to see a Saturday Night Love power rankings.

Saturday Night LIVE. Not *Love*. Oops.

My personal favorites from 2011 (in no order):

"Get In The Cage with Jude Law"
"HPV Vaccine Doll"
"Kemper Pedic"
"Steve Buscemi Monologue"
"The Creep"
"Tim Tebow"
"Black Swan"
"Lifetime Game Show"
"All My Children Wrap Party"
"The Roommate/Beastly" (two parodies, same idea, both funny)

Man, "We're sorry, but the clip you selected isn't available from your location. Please select another clip." was sooo funny. SNL's still got it. Of course, my favorite skit was "We're sorry, but the clip you selected isn't available from your location. Please select another clip."

That shit was off the hook.

List has no credibility without Get In The Cage.

"I'm gonna impregnate the Statue of Liberty!"

"A hairline that zigs and zags across your brow like so many metal filings at the mercy of their mother magnet, all set atop the face of a weathered possum king.

And that, my friend, is the true meaning of Christmas."

Thanks for reminding me why I don't watch this show. SNL is an acronym for Simply Not Laughing. Its a shame as I am old enough to remember when the show was both funny and relevant.

That "Batman" short is pretty good. Aquaman WOULD show up pantsless, wouldn't he?

Hey NBC-

If you're going to make me sit through your friggin' commercials tacked on the front of this, then you need to actually show the video clip you're baiting me with.

"We're sorry, but the clip you selected isn't available from your location. Please select another clip."

FUCK YOU, you're sorry! You got me to watch your shit Tamismo ad without paying me back by letting me see your ass-rag clip. Eat a dick, General Electric!

Then again...perhaps I need to take a step back. After all, it is an SNL clip after all. I suppose it's like being pissed off at a sore-covered crack whore if took your fiver and didn't blow you. Sure, it feels like you got cheated. But I suppose she's actually doing you a favor by sparing you.

Drunk uncle was by far the best this season.

Canadians, go here to get this plug in for Firefox:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/modify-headers/

It's been a while I did this, but if I remember correctly, load the plugin under tools.
1) under select action, select 'add'
2) in the first bar beside add, type 'X-forwarded-for'
3) In the next bar, type in '12.13.14.15'
4) click on the 'add' button on the right.
5) click 'enable, so the light is green.

That's how I *think* it works, as it's been a couple years since I set it up. It doesn't work for Hulu, but it does work for NBC, Viacom (Stewart, Colbert, MTV, etc.). Careful though, you may have to disable it to watch Canadian stuff like TSN hockey highlights.

I actually preferred "Liquorville" from the Justin Timberlake episode. I liked the Gaga cameo in that one better...

No Ham & Bubbly? (Hamm and Buble). That was hysterical!

And SNL gets a lot of crap, but they're batting average has been much better this past year, I think.

What, no Fallon as Beethoven? I was crying from laughing so hard... "That's Mozart, you sonofa...!"

No Kings of Catchphrase?!!

Posted by: bolson at December 22, 2011 12:31 PM

I also thought the kings of catchphrase comedy 2 was great, Charlie Day as Dane cook was perfect.
