WHAAAAAAAT?
First off, a ***Spoiler Warning: Game of Thrones’ Season 5 plot point discussed below. If you’re not caught up, begone!***
This morning I’m innocently (always innocently…) scanning the interwebs to see what’s going on, and thinking about writing a little goof on what Kit Harington might be doing in Belfast — other than playing he’s-so-not-dead Jon Snow.
He could be visiting the Titanic museum.
He may be checking out the course and prepping for the marathon.
He might never before have had the time to take a Black Cab tour.
He could be desperate to try a pint at Emilia Clarke’s favorite pub.
Yeah, that’s all I’ve got. But anyway, back to my web-scrounging, and the UTTER HORROR that ran through my entire body when I came across some Jon Snow news I hadn’t heard before. Guess which actor said he was very close to playing a not so flowing curls version of our favorite poutmeister?
Look familiar? Here, let me give you an even more familiar shot:
Are you like…
or more…
‘Cause I’m like:
I simply cannot separate Iwan Rheon from Ramsay Bolton, but sure enough, the actor said he was in the final running:
“I auditioned for the pilot of Game of Thrones, and was down to the last two for Jon Snow, so I guess they knew me. But Ramsay is the complete polar opposite. In my mind, I secretly thought it was Ramsay.”
When he finally did score a part, Rheon had to keep his role secret for quite some time.
“I wasn’t allowed to talk to anyone about it from the beginning of filming to the broadcast of the end of season three, I was supposed to say to everyone, “oh my character is Boy”, which was really embarrassing.
We may have had our issues with Harington’s at times mopey portrayal, but he really grew into the role of Snow — so much so, that at the time of Jon’s alleged death, everyone wants nothing more than to see the Lord Commander’s miraculous return.
