Ramsay Snow Can Sing (Really Well)

The more I learn about Iwan Rheon the more impressed I am, and the more I watch him on Game of Thrones the less I ever want to meet him. First it was learning that he was the number two pick for Jon Snow, a fact revealed by (I believe) David Benioff in the commentary for “Walk of Punishment” from season 3. I reflected that, as brilliant as Iwan was as Ramsay, I could immediately see how easily he could have been Jon Snow and how good he would have been. But then I realized that it meant someone else would have been Ramsay Snow and he’s so amazing (and terrifying) in that role that it’s probably for the best.

And now? Turns out the bastard can warble like Damien Rice while looking like the ideal “sensitive singer-songwriter type.” Well, I guess now it’s more “sensitive singer-songwriter type with massive daddy issues and a penchant for mutilation as a stress reliever.” Still a hard “NOPE!” but, you know, I’d have to pause.

Oh my God the thought of him as John Snow, it's too good, I wish it was, he'd be so much better than that pretty piece of wood.

  • sooze

Well, he's welsh, of course he can sing! He played Moritz in the UK version of Spring Awakening. That's the first thing I saw him in, in fact. https://www.youtube.com/watch?... crap view but there he is. Also Melchior is another welsh lad, he played Richard III in The White Queen last year.

Guys as much as I love cool side trivia like this.... stuff like this can wait later. Important stuff first. Seriously where is the Orphan Black review? The premiere was absolutely brilliant and Tatiana outdid herself. Give OB some love

Having seen him in Misfits first, let me tell you how extremely difficult it is to watch sweet sensitive heroic Simon turn into sadistic crazy pants Ramsay. Of course that only means he's a very talented person.

  • BiblioGlow

Simon's development was excellent and he was a heartbreaking, fantastic character. As I luckily have only seen Misfits and not GoT, I would have no trouble saying yes to the crazy-gifted, accented, musically-talented, scruffy man, were he to suddenly turn up on my doorstep.

He is a good singer, not quite in the Damien Rice class but very good :) He was excellent in Misfits and he is past excellent as Theon IMO. I also think Kit Harington is/has become an excellent actor. It seems that while he had to play the confused boy he was not as natural at it, but the premiere of this season saw a new Jon Snow and with it an awesome Kit.

  • annie

I think he also speaks Welsh fluently?

  • The_Ghost_of_Bo_Crowder

    It's his first language.

  • JustOP

He was also pretty good in Misfits; a quirky british show about 'troubled youths' doing community service whom all happen to have superpowers.

  • Benjamin W

    Save me Barry!

  • Maddy

He will always be Simon to me ... mainly because it's much more OK to have a crush on Simon than Ramsay

  • annie

Definitely. But even then, Simon was still kind of a lovable freak (with a six pack).

  • BendinIntheWind

    My lions are... confused.

  • emmalita

And he has range. He's marvelous as Ash in Vicious Old Queens. http://youtu.be/L0m1WzJiUv8

  • Abby

Yummy! I was disturbed by my attraction to him in Misfits and I'm even more disturbed that I'm still attracted to him as Ramsey Snow--poor Theon. He's just yummy.

  • BlackRabbit

Would the reverse work? Would Kit Harrington have been a good Ramsay Snow?

  • SorayaS

Hmmmm. Would love to see an unhinged Kit Harrington but I don't think Kit is anywhere near the actor Iwan is so perhaps not?

  • emmalita

My initial instinct is no, but a minute later I could see him making that pout work for Ramsay Snow.
