Regular Game of Thrones fans know that the story of Sansa Stark took a fairly dark turn last year. Not nearly as dark as the story of many of her family members, but as the last remaining Stark anywhere near Winterfell with even a ghost of a chance of reclaiming her family’s lands and position things weren’t looking great by the time… (SPOILERS below)

she and Theon jumped from the walls of Winterfell to escape the wrath of Ramsay Bolton. However, actress Sophie Turner recently revealed to Entertainment Weekly that Sansa’s fortunes might be turning around this season.

“It’s probably her best season yet. It’s her really coming into her own. She, this season, really commands the respect that she deserves and she grabs hold of it and she runs with it and it’s really good.”

She went on to add: “You can only suffer so much before she finally gets her, the respect that she deserves.”

Sophie Turner as an actress has done a great job of taking Sansa from a petulant teenager (is there any other kind?) to a cagey and strong young woman who’s had to endure some truly terrible events but who has maintained the hope for something better. Even in the darkest parts of last season’s storyline, she had a fighting spirit. Here’s hoping that Turner is right and this season sees Sansa continue to grow into someone who gains and wields her own power.

Any other hints about the upcoming season before we go?

“And just like in terms of character development, so many people’s storylines, I’m so excited for. I’m so excited to see Alfie’s one this season. It’s going to be good.”

Maybe all three of the Theon fans have something to look forward to!
