After The Book of Henry left some Star Wars fans concerned for the fate of the franchise under the direction of Colin Trevorrow, sources rushed to reassure everyone that the director wasn’t going anywhere and the benevolent powers at Lucasfilm and Disney had total trust in him. What’s a catastrophic critical flop between friends?
Now, The Hollywood Reporter are claiming the script for the 9th film will be rewritten by Jack Thorne, a British screenwriter and playwright probably best known for TV shows Skins and the This Is England series. Oh, and some play called Harry Potter and the Cursed Child that seems to have a few fans.
The Star Wars franchise is well acquainted with behind-the-scenes shake-ups these days, following the fallout from the Han Solo movie director swap, the much-discussed mess of the Rogue One production, and getting rid of Josh Trank before the stench of Fant4stic could smother the entire enterprise. That’s partly why so many thought that The Book of Henry being the mess that it was would result in Trevorrow being quietly removed from the film. Well, that and we all kind of hoped it would. He’s still hanging in there for now, but you never can tell.
