As hard as I try to stay abreast of new movies and TV shows, nearly all of my favorite new things of 2014 came from recommendations, not my own discoveries. I finally watched You’re the Worst last weekend and then immediately watched the whole first season again. I had completely given up on Agents of SHIELD until you all lovingly badgered me into powering through the crap bits and giving it a second chance. (And man am I glad you did.) Black-ish wasn’t on my radar at ALL until The Station Agents told me it should be. As much as we like discovering our own special pop culture gems, there’s no discounting the power of a good recommendation.

So let’s hear ‘em. After all, ‘tis the most slothful season, perfect for a good binge watch. Do you have time off work and need a few seasons of something to plow through? Do you suddenly have children home 24 hours a day and want something to keep their little minds and mouths occupied? What are you watching this holiday season and what should the rest of us be watching?

To get the ball rolling, I’m looking to catch up on Arrow (I’m about a season behind), and finally start Legend of Korra. I also have a Christmas Day tradition of day drinking and Doctor Who. And my recommendation for you all is to watch Selfie (on Hulu), Transparent (on Amazon) and Peaky Blinders (on Netflix) if you haven’t already. I also don’t know if I could have picked three more different shows to place next to each other. I’ve got you covered for your romantic fluff, your late-in-life dramedies, and your accented violence.
