Welcome back to the Death Watch, a ranking of the likelihood of each character to get killed this season in Game of Thrones. As before, there WILL BE SPOILERS FOR ALL PAST EPISODES, and a strict NO FUTURE SPOILERS policy on the comments. Anything referring to the future is purely speculation. I do not watch any of the previews for the upcoming week, so all my thoughts are purely based on the episodes themselves and nothing that has been teased in the future.

For those of you looking to talk about future spoilers, stay for the read and take your comments over to Joanna's post here.

At this point, the possibilities are endless. Especially in King's Landing, where everybody has motive to kill someone, and now it's just a question of who is willing to pull the trigger. I have no guess as to what Melisandre is doing there, but I hope they are stopping and weren't just passing through. I loved seeing her interact with people outside of Stannis, and seeing her with any main characters would be the mini cherry on top of the regular cherry on top of the sundae of awesomeness that is King's Landing.

Rating System:
1 = Safe
10 = Imminent Death

Biggest Movers from Last Week:
Ygritte: +3
A Dragon: +3
Loras: -3

Arya Stark: 1
Hound: 6. Every time I expect someone to be gone for a while, they seem to pop right back up. There's a good chance he ends up being one of Arya's kills that Melisandre alluded to.
Thoros of Myr: 4
Beric Dondarrion: 2

Melisandre: 2. What they are doing in King's Landing? And how did nobody notice this random ship floating around in Blackwater Bay?
Gendry: 7

Jaime Lannister: 2. I can't believe he didn't throw Locke into the bear pit.
Brienne: 2. If the bear didn't get her, nothing will this season.
Roose Bolton: 3

I think we'll lose two people out of the following group. If I had to guess right now, it's Shae and Tywin.
Joffrey Baratheon: 3
Tywin Lannister: 6
Cersei Lannister: 3
Loras Tyrell: 4. Now that it looks like Jaime is on his way to King's Landing, he'll have to stay alive at least long enough for Jaime to get there.
Margaery Tyrell: 2
Lady Olenna: 2
Tyrion Lannister: 1
Bronn: 3
Shae: 8. Between Tywin and Shae, one of them is going to kill the other one. And both scenarios most likely end up with Shae getting killed.
Podrick: 5
Varys: 2
Petyr Balish: 3
Sansa Stark: 6

Robb Stark: 3. I'm going back to what I thought two weeks ago. Once they reach the Freys, I think we'll find out that they expect a lot more than just a wedding for his uncle. Robb won't get killed, but Catelyn and/or Talisa could be in trouble.
Catelyn Stark: 6
Talisa Maegyr (Stark?): 6. It's really suspicious that she's writing letters in Valyrian that Robb can't read.

Jon Snow: 1
Ygritte: 5. I've seen this in the comments a few different times and I'm starting to come around. She is awfully happy for a Game of Thrones character. Yes, that's a bad sign.
Mance Rayder: 2
Tormund Giantsbane: 2.

Daenerys Targaryen: 1
Jorah Mormont: 7
Barristan Selmy: 3
Drogon, Rhaegal, Viserion (Dragons): 5 for one of them, 2 for the rest. Daenerys might be getting a little overzealous waging war on a city when she doesn't know who their allies are. The dragons are still too small to be invincible.

Theon Greyjoy: 2
Psychopath Torturing Theon: 3

Bran Stark: 1
Rickon Stark: 1
Osha: 1
Hodor: 1
Jojen Reed: 1
Meera Reed: 1

Not Pictured This Week:

Stannis Baratheon: 3
Davos Seaworth: 3

Samwell Tarly: 1

I think Talisa is in trouble, serious trouble. You only had to see Catelyn's look backward at Robb kissing her. Since she entered Robb's life, he has become an ineffectual leader, losing allies and breaking his pledge to marry into the Freys. Obviously Robb would rather be in the sack with her rather than fighting a war (which is not all bad). However, if she is gone , Robb will be free to get the support of the Freys and perhaps seal their bond by marrying their daughter. And Mother will be happy---still a traitor but now a happy one. Finally, Theon has to be a 7 or 8. After this episode there is little left to be done to he has probably lost his will to live. (And to stupid to become a "Varys 2".)

With only 3 episodes left, I am already getting withdrawal pain.....and may become a reader.

Of course at the end of the season all the number 1s will go to the NCAA tournament.

  • koko temur

Again with the suspucions against talisa because she wrote in valyrian.. Im not saying she is above doubt, but not because she wrote in her mother tounge for fucks sake. Most people in GoT universe are illiterate, almost none can write in two languages.

A king at war should definitely be awfully suspicious to the extreme. It's just good sense.

Same as any contemporary royal or celebrity or rich or pretty person should assess if that too-good-to-be-true romantic interest is in it for the right reasons.

  • koko temur

Oh, its perfectly fine for him to be suspicious! I meant us the viers read too much in to it. There are better reasons than that.

  • Sirilicious

I intend to be suspicious alongside, oh wait, instead of him. :o)

As a book reader, I laugh when you're right (and sometime cringe) and laugh when you're so wrong (and sometimes cringe).

  • culturerabble

AHAHAH! I LOL-ed at that. When GRRM says playfully that he is gonna have to leave the country soon, I'm sure he is only half kidding.

  • PDamian

She is awfully happy for a Game of Thrones character. Yes, that’s a bad sign.

If permanent discontent is the secret to a long life in Westeros, then Dolorous Edd is going to live forever.

  • BlackRabbit

If I could make one request of Mr. Martin, it would be that Edd DOES live forever. Maybe the characters get whittled down enough that he becomes king?

  • Sara_Tonin00

Yeah, Daenarys is about due for another lesson in humility - she's been getting her way too much lately, and the pendulum has got to swing around. Not that I want to see it, per se, but it's gonna happen.

And I think Talisa is sooooo dead.

Are you thinking Jaime needs to kill Loras because otherwise Cersei gets taken to High Garden?

  • Sirilicious

Considering Daenarys horrific brother, rapey introduction to arranged married life and her child dying, i think karma should push the pendulum's swing a little further. But I am afraid you are right.
