Friday Night Lights! Show some much-needed love to an under-appreciated show. And other hyphenated phrases...

Bionic Woman. It's cheesy and fun, and Miguel Ferrar and Isaiah Washington provide ready-made opportunities for humor.

Favorite show so far: The Wire. I know it hasn't aired yet. It doesn't matter. I already know it's going to be better than anything else.

I would like to hear your take on Supernatural. The Office, of course, would be fun as well.

It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia. That's the only show I've had time to keep up with this season (sorry, The Office). That will all change once the new season of BSG starts.

Are shows on the premium channels an option? Because I think most of all I'd love a weekly "Dexter" review. I think this season's gonna be smashing.

It's Always Sunny... would provide some solid humor each week. Plus it's really hard to describe it to people who don't watch it but you think should, so I could forward them links to the reviews.

I haven't watched any of the new shows out this season, but as for my returning favorites I've found them to be pretty lackluster so far. It's a bit disappointing. I have no time in my life to increase my TV viewing, but based on what I've heard I may have to add Pushing Daisies to the repertoire.

I would suggest either Pushing Daisies, which is undeniably the best new show of the year, or House, which wins the Lazarus Award for its return to form after a year of near-total collapse.

What's your favorite show, so far, of the new season?
The only new show I'm watching this season is Journeyman, and while Husband is getting into it after three eps, I'm about to lose interest completely. I'm waiting impatiently for Lost to come back.

On to the bigger question:

FNL is a quality drama, and while that makes it great to watch, it would make for terribly boring real-time review/recapping.

The same is true of the good comedies other people have mentioned--they're fun to watch. Reading recaps would simply be reading re-tellings of the funny stuff; peeyoo.

I say the only--and perfect--TV show for Pajiba-style recapping is Desperate Housewives. I've never watched it before this season (regular commenters won't have to be told the reason I've started tuning in), but man, talk about cheese. Somehow it manages to take itself too seriously, while simultaneously (and constantly) trying to convince viewers that it's not taking itself too seriously.

I've never seen anything like it. I'm only two episodes in and I'm starting to feel sorry that I haven't been watching this thing since Day One. DH is completely batshit insane. With occasional Kyle McLachlan. Please Pajiba-cap Desperate Housewives!

The Office!

I have to agree with "Pushing Daisies" and "Supernatural". "Pushing Daisies" is my favorite new show of the season and "Supernatural"... well as much as I love it, I'd love to see your review of it more. Annnnnddd I might agree with TK about seeing you guys squirm.

My favorite new show this season is definitely Chuck; he's so geeky and adorable! (And how can you go wrong with Adam Baldwin?)

Bionic Woman might be a fun recap too; it's entertaining, and the dialogue sometimes is so over the top it's moderately hysterical.

Favorite returning show has to be Dexter ... but The Office would probably make for funnier recaps!

While I don't think "Tell Me You Love Me" is a great show, I would love to see it rendered in print. "They fall to the floor disrobed, biting each other all the while...."

* has the potential to be good but just isn't;
* used to be good but isn't anymore;
* might be good in the future but isn't quite yet;
* is so bad that it's actually good.

Don't RTR a good show that is actually good! It would be such a waste of you finely honed scathing bitchiness.

My favorite shows so far this year are House and The Office, but if you're going to real-time review something, I personally would like to see it be E.R. That show jumped the shark years ago, to the point where they're recycling characters (tell me that John Stamos' character isn't a re-creation of George Clooney's character, and you're a liar), so to me, its a good canidate for some bitchyness.

Always Sunny would be a great show to see how you would recap - they are some of the most reprehensible yet insanely hilarious people on TV. Southpark is another fine choice - Tourrettes and to Catch a Predator in the same episode.

i love tv whore's comments on BSG, but that isn't back on yet--and i think it is better suited to a normal review, so i'm going to have to go with desperate housewives or grey's. heroes could be good too--that show can be all over the place. as much as i love FNL and want everyone to watch it, i don't think it should get the real time treatment.

ANTM could be pretty funny too--but only if y'all understand the fabulosity that is Ms. J.

Read time reviews are not as fun if it's a show that's actually really good. If it's a show that's so bad you can't watch it all, the review is no good either. So, I vote for House. I personally love this show (major love for Hugh), but it's getting impossible to buy into the idea that he hasn't been fired yet.

First of all, have you stopped over to TWOP lately? They promised nothing would change with the big buy-out but lo and behold, a lot of cool shows have been dropeed and now they're reviewing all the NBC/Bravo crap (How I Met Your Mother? A better sit-com than most but still a formulaic sitcom, pauses to shake head in despair). They're still talented folk at TWOP, but it's the beginning of the end. Watch for increasingly lesser scathingness on the NBC shows the network is trying to push as this progesses. I feel betrayed.
Okay, vent over! House is a good candidate. Good show because there's good dialogue and Laurie is awesome but such preposterous plots, ones that shouldn't even be considered outside of a scifi department.

As a fan of your "Oh My God This Is A Piece of Shit" reviews, I think Gossip Girl or The Hills would be hilarious (the two shows on tv I am least likely to watch).

Dexter and Pushing Daisies are by far my favorite shows of the new season.

Okay...I formally withdraw my suggestion for "Grey's Anatomy" and place in the running for next real time review "A Shot At Love With Tila Tequila." This show screams RTR. Please do this, pretty please do this one with sugar on top. This show has no redeeming value at all, so it deserves a scathing, bitchy real time review.

PaddyDog, right there with ya. They took away one of my favorite forums, the Bitterness Fiesta. TBF was a place that all of us who were pissed at the direction and shoddy show running of Lost could go and be in similar company. I mourn it's loss.

If Lost or American Idol were currently airing, I would nominate those as well. I vote for a January RTR of AI. It is a soul killing pile of suck plus a side of crazy Paula "I'm not on drugs" Abdul.

Melody: I so feel your pain. I spent many a delightful hour lurking happily in the Bitterness Fiesta. And don't get me started on the sudden end to Jacob's amazing mind-blowing recaps of Doctor Who just as a new season opens. I'm itchin' for some kind of petition here!

We don't have cable, so I can't make any suggestions, but PLEASE don't real-time The Office! I have to wait a full year before I can get my hands on Season 4 in its entirety and watch it all in one day (see: that time I watched all of Season 3 while I wrote a paper on Progress in the Victorian Era), and I know I could just NOT READ your real-times, but I love reading and hate not-reading. So I enter my plea for 'something else.'

Supernatural! they've really upped the cheese this season, makes for some tasty viewing.

South Park - the preview for tomorrow's episode shows Randy Marsh (one of the greatest characters in television history) taking a crap and commenting on how big it is.

Come on. That review is going to write itself, and write itself hilariously.

I'm not really sure I want to read about some of my other favorite shows. I think reading about some crappy show like Grey's Anatomy would be more entertaining. But that would suck for the person who has to watch it and critique it.

So I guess just South Park and maybe something like Heroes, Reaper, or My Name is Earl.

I have to disagree, I honestly don't see anything different in the new TWOP-to me they've just added more shows whose recaps I can't wait to read. I do miss the old layout though, the new one is so Bravo.com.

Marianne: Jacob is a god. His Serenity, Battlestar Galactica, and The Office recaps are of the most well written pieces ever featured on the site.

ughhhh why does everyone like pushing daisies. there is such a thing as "too quirky."

a weekly real-time review on a one-note terrible show (cavemen, csi, chuck, i love new york) would get stale. a weekly real-time review on a genuinely great show (it's always sunny, the office [though it's getting old], friday night lights) would not be fun enough.

so by my estimate, the ones that lie in the middle that could generate hilariousness and weekly authentic intrigue are:

-heroes [love the show, but it's often easy to make fun of]
-gossip girl [it's making fun of itself every week in new and exciting ways]
-pushing daisies [as long as you people can realize the pratfalls to this show (more big fish is not a good thing) in addition to praising its cutesiness]
-dexter [great characters, terrible dialogue/narration]

Or Supernatural.

I agree with a few of the commenters - pick a truly awful and yet curiously popular show! My vote goes for whatever this season's Laguna Beach is (Newport? The Hills? Who can tell since everyone had the same over-accessorized and vacuous look). Besides, aren't clique-y high school brats with too much time and money the epitome of bitchiness? Oooh, the drama!

I think you should Real Time Review Beauty and the Geek. The show is so awkward and funny, and there was a romance in the house and the female of the pair just got the boot. I love this show, it is one of the only reality tv shows I can watch. It is so amazing how dumb some of the beauties are and how socially inept some of the geeks are. Please check out Beauty and the Geek.

One of my favorite new shows is Burn Notice. It aired over the summer, but it was like a spy version of McGyver. It was sooo cool; a few of the final episodes starting showing some huge plot holes, but it was still a whole lot of fun. I highly recommed getting or at least Netflixing the dvd when it comes out.
