Five Songs

An Afternoon Comment Diversion

Comment Diversions | March 21, 2007 | Comments (465)

We don’t have anything exciting to present this afternoon, so I how about the iPod shuffle game? Ms. Pajiba-Hyphenate and I like to play it on long road trips and then mock one another for the contents of our iPods. It’s simple and kind of cheesy, which is what makes it so enjoyable. Simply pull out your iPod, hit shuffle, and tell us what the first five songs are. No cheating. If you have Ashlee Simpson in the first five, you are obligated to confess to it. It’s the joy of anonymous public humiliation.

Pajiba Love 03/21/07 | Dude, You Like So Totally Can't Go Home Again

Comments

'85 Radio Special Thank You - They Might be Giants
'Cause It's Love - Robyn Hitchcock
Untitled Squeeze Cover - Tarkio
(Decaying Artifact) - Ted Leo
(Don't Go Back To) Rockville - R.E.M.

Man, I got away easy with those five.

Posted by: Alex at March 21, 2007 3:52 PM

"Dumb Luck" - Dntel
"SXRT" - Bloc Party
"The Fake Headlines" - The New Pornographers
"Homesick At Space Camp" - Fall Out Boy
"Poison Oak" - Bright Eyes

Nothing tooooo embarrassing, except maybe the old school fall out boy on there...

Posted by: Teg at March 21, 2007 3:56 PM

Oh man. scared. Here we go:

1. "Come Pick Me Up" -Ryan Adams

2. "Wild Night" - Van Morrison

3. "Sitting, Waiting, Wishing" - Jack Johnson

4. "Voyager 2" -Virginia Coalition

5. "Mexico" - Jump Little Children

Posted by: Claire at March 21, 2007 3:57 PM

Alright, I don't think I did too bad:

1. Beck - Tropicalia (from Mutations)
2. Wake Up Mr. West (Feat. Bernie Mac) - Kanye West (from Late Registration)
3. 11-5 - David and the Bear (from the Fall of the West 2005 Sampler)
4. When You Heard You - French Kicks (from One Time Bells)
5. Yearnin' - The Black Keys (from The Big Come Up)

and because I'm not sure Bernie Mac talking counts as a song,

6. Heartbeats (Rex the Dog remix) - The Knife (from Deep Cuts)

As a side note, I used to play the incredible iPod Mash-Up game with my girlfriend on the train: each player inserts one earbud form each players iPod into one of their ears. Hit shuffle on both iPods - the resulting cacaphony, modified further by right and left levels in each song, ranges from brilliant to headache inducing (which is when you hit the next button).

"Crazy" - K-Ci & JoJo (man, flashbacks to dances in grade 8)
"The Boxer" - Simon & Garfunkel again
"Happiness" - Grant Lee Buffalo
"Amy" - Ryan Adams

Except for K-Ci & Jojo, that was relatively painless.

Posted by: Ashley M. at March 21, 2007 5:58 PM

Witchfinder General- "Love On Smack"
Pink Floyd- "The Nile Song"
Weezer- "Undone(The Sweater Song)"
Motorhead- "Overkill"
Tangerine Dream- "Stratosfear"

Posted by: hektor at March 21, 2007 6:04 PM

The next 5 are a bit more diverse:

You're Crashing, But You're No Wave- Fall Out Boy (uh-oh)

Loose Translation- The New Pornographers

Ashes of American Flags- Wilco

On Top- The Killers

Ingrid Bergman- Billy Bragg and Wilco

Posted by: Ashley M. at March 21, 2007 6:04 PM

So Would Have I - John Frusciante (Live at the Paradiso)
Translucent - Smashing Pumpkins (Mashed Potatoes)
Lion's Share - The Germs (Anthology)
Your Rules Obey - Grand National (Kicking the National Habit)
Cartography - The Reputation (To Force a Fate)

Posted by: Catherine at March 21, 2007 6:05 PM

Okay, I'm doing it again because I'm curious. Also procrastinating.

Good Fucking Bye - Matt Skiba and Kevin Seconds
River Euphrates - The Pixies
Wild Dub - Generation X
Watch It Die - Bad Religion
Police Truck - Dead Kennedys

...wow. That's a much better picture of what I actually listen to.

From what I've seen, the Pajiba crowd has (what I consider to be) amazingly good taste in music. I feel right at home.

This is, I'm almost sure, a silly question, but before I hoist myself from the company's body pillows (nontraditional offices are fantastic) and retrieve my musical device, does the ipod shuffle HAVE a shuffle mode? If so, I haven't found it, but then again I'm a bit of a technophobe (in an endearing rather than anarchy-minded way). The shuffle is the tiny little one being advertised to the left of the comments section.

Posted by: Becca at March 21, 2007 6:05 PM

Becca-
The iPod Shuffle is always on shuffle mode (hence the name), so just hit play and write down the first five songs it plays. What the shuffle doesn't have is a non-shuffle mode.

Posted by: Iriska at March 21, 2007 6:07 PM

I have eclectic tastes...

1. C'est Moi - Robert Goulet (Camelot-Broadway Original Cast Recording)
2. Dream Manifestation - Ron Clearfield
3. Oh Come All Ye Faithful/Nu Brown Maiden - Druidstone
4. Celtic Ray - Van Morrison
5. Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy - Queen

Posted by: funtime42 at March 21, 2007 6:07 PM

Crown of Love - Arcade Fire
Boots or Hearts - Tragically Hip
Baba O'Reilly - The Who
Summer Babe - Pavement
LDN - Lily Allen

Posted by: ES at March 21, 2007 6:08 PM

1. Cities in Dust - Siouxsie and the Banshees
2. Memory - Sugarcult
3. ABC's of Love - Rooney
4. Bleed American - Jimmy Eat World
5. Tokyo Nights - Hikaru Utada

My tastes are all over the place. Unfortunately, the shuffle had to pick emo/pop bands for 3 out of 5.

Posted by: Christine at March 21, 2007 6:08 PM

Man, I'm totally okay with my five:

1. "The Deep." Gary Hoey.
2. "sharp darts." the streets.
3. "Where I End and You Begin." Radiohead.
4. "Young Pilgrims." The Shins.
5. "Rock n' Roll Junkie." Motley Crue.

Posted by: TV Whore at March 21, 2007 6:12 PM

"We Both Go Down Together" - The Decemberists
"Glory Hallelujah" - Brian Wright & the Waco Tragedies
"About the Moon" - Rilo Kiley
"Fight Test" - The Flaming Lips
"A Good Idea at the Time" - OK Go

Wow, iTunes was pretty kind to me. I know there's a huge potential for embarrasment in my iTunes library.

Posted by: miranda at March 21, 2007 6:12 PM

And I couldn't help doing it a second time, which turned out just as fine:

1. "Army Ants." Tom Waits.
2. "Power of the Orange." Tori Amos.
3. "That I would be Good." Alanis Morissette.
4. "Shake Break Bounce." Chemical Brothers.
5. "Spegetti Western. Primus."

Posted by: TV Whore at March 21, 2007 6:15 PM

I last updated my Ipod in 2005 right before I moved to Vienna. I put absolutely everything I knew I would NEVER hear in Europe on it. Therefore, I am relatively certain I'm going to be mortified by what the old (no, really, it's old!) machine comes up with
1. Everyday I have the Blues- Tony Bennett and Stevie Wonder
2. It's Not Easy Being Green- Kermit the Frog
3. Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree- Glen Miller
4. Swan Lake's Pas De Deux- Tchiakovsky played by the Berliner Philharmonik
5. It Had to Be You- Frank Sinatra

Actually not too mortifying, except that it appears I am 73 instead of 23.

Posted by: philad at March 21, 2007 6:16 PM

Off to an Austin-centric start-

'Rich Woman'- Fabulous Thunderbirds

'The Breakdown'- Los Lobos

'Sent by Angels'- Arc Angels

'Don't Stay'- Linkin Park

'Sending the Old Man Home'- Jimmy Buffet

Eh

Posted by: Bill at March 21, 2007 6:18 PM

1. Imaginary Friend, Nada Surf
2. You're Gonna Miss Me, The Thirteenth Floor Elevators
3. Ageless Beauty, Stars
4. Sonata for Piano and Cello, Yo-Yo Ma
5. Publish My Love, Rogue Wave

haha, got off pretty easy there! iTunes shuffle mode is a great and terrible invention, indeed...

1. Lost Friend Advice - Alias

2. King Eternal - TV on the Radio

3. Nostrand - Ratatat

4. Start to Melt - Peter Bjorn & John

1) Homesick by The Cure
2) Shadow of A Doubt by Beth Orton
3) Martha by Tom Waits
4) Star Me Kitten by R.E.M
5) The Mast by Feist

Posted by: Scott at March 21, 2007 6:22 PM

OK, got it:

"This heart's on fire"- Wolf Parade

"Yankee go home"- Clap Your Hands Say Yeah

"Jacksonville"- Sufjan Stevens

"What a wonderful man"- My Morning Jacket

"Over and over again"- Clap Your Hands Say Yeah

Pretty representative, though my primary ipod time is spent running, so things like Jacksonville are replaced with songs that have a more obvious beat (All Things Go by Stevens, the Decemberists, The Scissor Sisters, etc).

Posted by: Becca at March 21, 2007 6:22 PM

Iriska-

Does the shuffle setting imply that the songs aren't part of a playlist or does it specifically mean that they are entirely random? I can keep my songs in order but I can't make playlists; I also just found the 'random' setting.

Posted by: Becca at March 21, 2007 6:25 PM

I'm up for another go around

Time is Nothing - John Frusciante (From the Sounds Inside) **everyone should love this guy immediately.
I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For - U2 (Joshua Tree)
Hollaback Girl - Gwen Stefani (LAMB) **I am sick of her and this song. That's unfortunate.. for her, not so much the song.
Checkered Floor - Silversun Pickups (Carnavas)
Sunday Morning Coming Down - Johnny Cash

Posted by: Catherine at March 21, 2007 6:27 PM

also, I'm seriously impressed with how great everyone's taste in music is on here: just goes to show how great pajiba (and its loyal readers!) are...

also, kudos to whoever put down nick drake a few posts back--one of my favorite artists EVER

I was so excited to randomly see Glen Phillips starting off the comments. I got to see him live a few months ago; he's seriously good.

1. "Knock Yourself Out," Jon Brion

2. "The Lord God Bird," Sufjan Stevens

3. "Fred Meyers," Glen Phillips

4. "My Moon My Man," Feist

5. "Love Is a Battlefield," Pat Benatar... I had a strong urge to get that one after watching "13 Going On 30" on TBS a while back. Don't you judge me!

1. Crazy Bitch - Buckcherry
2. Angel Main Theme - Darling Violetta
3. Boom Bomm - Big Head & The Monsters

3. Cheating on You - Franz Ferdinand
4. Hyena - R.E.M.

Steely Dan - Fire in the Hole

yup, that's about as random as it gets, folks.

2. Hole, 'Jennifer's Body'
3. Melissa Etheridge, 'I'm the Only One' (inside joke with my sister)
4. Van Morrison, 'Brown Eyed Girl' (one of my favorite songs ever, even though my eyes are green)

2 -- Tennessee Sucks, Ryan Adams (there's alot of Ryan Adams around here)

3 -- Cherry Cola, Eagles of Death Metal

4 -- The Consort, Rufus Wainwright

5 -- We've Had Enough, Alkaline Trio

well that wasn't too bad, mostly harmless.

Pink Floyd - Money
Iron & Wine - Someday the Waves
Bela Fleck & Edgar Meyer - Allegro Vivace
The Allman Brothers Band - Statesboro Blues
Led Zeppelin - Going to California

Not too shabby.

2 - Damn, I Wish I Was Your Lover - Sophie B. Hawkins
3 - A Message To You, Rudy - The Specials
4 - Down On The Corner - CCR
5 - Heaven Or Las Vegas - The Cocteau Twins

I try not to have anything on there I really don't want to listen to; the only music I'm remotely embarrassed by is a few by Paula Abdul (the old, old crap) that I never listen to, but haven't taken off, because, why? I have 20 gigs to fill and have only taken up about 3. I have fewer than 1000 songs.

Anybody know how the shuffle mode works? I assume it's an algorithm of some kind, does anybody know what it is? Just curious.

2. Will it Go Round in Circles - Dave Matthews (Dave M. & Friends)

4. Today 4 U - RENT

"At the Zoo" - Simon & Garfunkel.
"Kiss From a Rose" - Seal.
"Champagne Supernova" - Oasis.
"A Day Like Today" - Tom McRae.

Huh....not really representative of my tastes as a whole, but fairly accurate in its portrayal of my love for truly craptacular music. I'm gonna cheat and try again:

"The Legionnaire's Lament" - The Decemberists.
"BYOS" - Regina Spektor.
"Pennyroyal Tea" - Nirvana.
"Bad Reputation" - Freedy Johnston.
"Four Left Feet" - The Ditty Bops.

Much better! (I'm just lucky "Fergalicious" didn't show up...)

There's another version of this game that's more representative of taste and possibly more embarrassing: When you plug your I-pod in to a computer, you can sort songs by number of times played. (I don't know if/how this works with other players.)

1. Crooked Teeth--Death Cab for Cutie--33 plays
2. Oh, Christy--The Moaners--18 plays

2. Basin Street Blues - Ella Fitzgerald

3. 1 thing feat. Eve - Amerie

4. Set The Fire to the First Bar feat. Martha Wainwright - Snow Patrol

5. Get you home feat. Foxy Brown - Blackstreet

Now if that is not a perfect example of diversity, then I don't know what is!

A poster upthread asked about another poster's version of the BNL song "If I Had a Million Dollars," and before I begin, I'd just like to point out that it might actually be BNL, as they are in the practice of occasionally performing bluegrass versions of their own songs.

Also, if Daniel Carlson was including Josh Ritter in this "alt-country" summation, well... no.

Now, then...

"Bye Bye, Love" - Simon & Garfunkel

"Instinct Blues" - The White Stripes

"Love For Sale" - Talking Heads

"Band on the Run" - Paul McCartney (live)

"Bull in a China Shop" - Barenaked Ladies

J-

The question mark next to George Strait's name makes it appear that you're not sure who's performing the song on your playlist. If I had to guess, I think you're talking about "Tight Fittin' Jeans" by Conway Twitty, who generally wrote some pretty creepy country tunes. ("You've Never Been This Far Before" is like listening to a ballad about date rape.) The song isn't to be confused with Mel McDaniel's "Baby's Got Her Blue Jeans On," which is dumb but harmless.

...If it's a mainstream country song from 1987-1994, I probably know it. Don't ask me how.

Posted by: Daniel Carlson at March 21, 2007 9:22 PM

Loving all the Rufus Wainwright here.

And cheers to Sean for having Big Wreck. I do remember when Canadian music didn't suck. (And I Mother Earth. Sigh. What happened, Edwin?)

"The Taste of Ink" The Used (ah, better already)
"Luck Be A Lady" Frank Sinatra and some lady
"Hello, I Love You" The Doors
"El Tango de Roxanne" Moulin Rouge Soundtrack
"Prelude 12/21" AFI

I'm actually charging up my iPod so that I can join in and play. It's all very exciting.

I'm not sure I've actually ever HEARD an Ashlee Simpson song, or maybe I did once, I think I probably couldn't tell what the hell it was she was squeaking about. Hmmm. My iPod does have a hell of a lot of cheese music on it though so I am slightly frightened. No cheating for Alex though, oh no.

Aw crap, it ends badly:

1) "Haushinka" Greenday
2) "Wonderful" Everclear
3) "Guest List" The eels
4) "Girl in a Cage" Horrorpops
5) "Everything Louder than Everything else" Meatloaf.

Absolutely downright shocking. And as proof that admitting the fact that I have all 3 Bat out of Hell albums on my iPod brings me good music karma here's what I got second time round:

1) "Kiss you Off" Scissor Sisters
2) "19th Nervous Breakdown" Rolling Stones
3) "Creeping up the Backstairs" The Fratellis
4) "I'm not cryin' for you" Save Ferris

Oh bollocks.

1. Sound and Vision - David Bowie (how fitting, he's my all-time favorite!)

2. Transmission (with St. Vitus Dance interlude) - Bauhaus (yay! my second fave, this is going well)

3. Dog End of a Day Gone By - Love and Rockets (okay, now this is scary, my third favorite artist)

4. Bring Me the Head of the Preacher Man - Siouxsie and the Banshees

5. I Keep Forgetting - David Bowie (oh, there it goes....the cheese)

And some five more because this is so much fun!

6. Art Decade - David Bowie (damn, I guess this is what you get when Bowie makes up 1/5 of your collection)

7. Stay - guess who.....

8. Wind - Red Elvises (hells yeah for siberian surf rock)

9. Hold On - Lou Reed

10. For Tomorrow - Blur

I'm surprised, that was a pretty good mix. I've never used the shuffle function before because I'm always skeptical of how it will turn out, but maybe I will. Too bad it didn't get some of my faves in there like David J, Nine Inch Nails, The Cure, Joy Division, The Decemberists, and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club....but it's all good.

Looking over this list and saying, "Hmm, someone else I've never heard of...." proves to me my utter lack of musical hipness. Perhaps there should be a Pajiba's Guide to what's good for you in regards to music for backwards folk like me.

Before I list my shuffles of shame, I want to cover my cellulite-riddled ass by explaining that I listed to my iPod in the library while I'm working rather a lot, so there's a lot of 'furniture music'-- Satie, Philip Glass, what have you.

Here goes: be kind and/or offer suggestions. I do SO need your help:

1.) Knock 'em out - Lily Allen
2.) Sky Is Crying - Elmore James
3.) Fantaisie Sign - The Seatbelts
4.) Song of the Silent Age - David Bowie and Brian Eno
5.) Mariachi Gama

Erm... let's try again

1.) Woo Hoo - The 5678s (Don't judge me!!!)
2.) Copo Vazio - Gilberto Gil
3.) Koto - Yamato Ensemble (Japanese classical music)
4.) Mozart concerto for trumpet in D major - Wynton Marsalis
5.) Waltz for Bill Evans - Chick Corea

I'm guessing from the list that I should check out this Elliot Smith fellow, and Sufjan Stevens... and... who else, folks?

1. "Prelude to a Kiss"--Miles Davis (and a vocalist I can't place at the moment)

2. "Misty Moutaintop"--Led Zepplin

3. "Above All"--Michael W. Smith (yes, I am a Christian)

4. "It Ain't Necessarily So"--Marcus Roberts

5. "Go Your Own Way"--Jellyfish

Not as bad as I imagined it might be. My jazz leanings shined through but none of the fluffy 80's/90's pop of which I am so fond.

I should preface this by saying that a lot of you might have Shuffles or the smaller Nanos, so you probably only download stuff onto your ipod that you really like or find interesting since there's not a ton of room. That makes your selections less embarrasing. I have a 60GB one however, and I pretty much have it filled with every song I've ever owned, gotten for free or was sent by someone else and there's a lot of crap I don't listen to (I just like the comfort of having my ipod full of music). With that said, this list makes me seem gayer than I am. My first five that come up are:

Caught Out There (Neptunes Remix) - Kelis
867-5309/Jimmy - Mark Weigle (gay Tommy Tutone cover)
I Found Love (Babie Love Mix) - Natalie Hagan
Get Your Way (Warehouse Version) - Jamie Cullum
Girls Just Want To Have Fun (12 Inch Mix) - Cyndi Lauper

Nothin' wrong with a little (or a lot) of Jamie. The guy's friggin' amazing.

I keep coming back to this thread to see what else y'all listen to--pretty amazing. And just for the hell of it,

1) so fresh, so clean--outkast
2) whatever lola wants--sarah vaughn (verve remix)
3) you are the one--elliott yamin
4) party--nelly furtado

Exit Music (For a Film) - Christopher O'Riley (more of a novelty than a great version, this is from a classical pianist's Radiohead covers album)

Not Addicted - The Streets

Rory Rides Me Raw - The Vaselines

I had to post again because I've actually made a concerted effort to shuffle all 5401 songs on my ipod for the past few days and only listen that way. It's actually been pretty damn awesome I must say - I fully reccomend the cleansing power of a good shuffle if this thread hasn't already convinced you.

This is all cool and great and everything, but something tells me (um, human nature, especially when it comes to music and lists) that over half of you sat down and came up with a list of 5 songs that would make you look like you've got the most bombastic, sick, clever, non-commerical, indie cred inducing list you could come up with. And you probably took like 2 hours to perfect the list. I'd join in, but I don't own an Ipod, so here is my 5 songs from a shuffled list of all my music on Yahoo Jukebox:

Sunbursts In - Eyeless in Gaza
Be Sweet - Afghan Whigs
Alone, Jealous, and Stoned - Secret Machines
Flesh and Bone - Bear McCreary (Battlestar Galactica score)
Obstacle 1 - Interpol

Wow, that's so good, it almost seems like I made it up. Honest sugar, I didn't.

First, let me say that I abhor musical snobbery. Small minded bullsh*t. I had a chain-smoking Dinosaur Jr./Archers of Loaf-loving roommate in college who from high in her ivory tower of musical taste looked down on my unabashed love of mainstream, pop, and electronic music. Grrrrr. Still irks me to this day.

So throwing caution to the wind and looking like a lame-ass to Pajiba-ites:

1.Helena-My Chemical Romance
2.Do You Have a Little Time-Dido
3.The Same Deep Water As You-The Cure
4. My Elastic Eye-Chemical Brothers
5. Die Another Day-Madonna

Oddly, only after the sixth song, Paul Oakenfold's "Praise the Lord", did a Tori song pop up- Cloud on My Tongue(live), and she takes up most of the space on my old school apple green iPod Mini.

God, I love this game.

I was going to say something about how impressed you all are with yourselves, but Hunter stole the words from out my po' lil' mouth.

Since when did "eclectic" become synonymous with "underground indie"? I could count on both hands and feet how many of you decided that your tastes were particularly eclectic when all five songs seemed to lean in a certain direction. Give me one 80's power rock ballad, the Macarena, a 2001 trance anthem, something by Portishead, and something that was on the radio recently and THEN we'll talk eclectic.

Posted by: Amanda at March 22, 2007 10:37 PM

Wow, okay, I'll jump on this bandwagon as well. I gotta say, though, that I'm loving how random and different everyone's lists are.

1. Holding Out for a Hero - Bonnie Tyler
2. I Hate Jimmy Page - MSI
3. Heroes - Davie Bowie
4. One Song Glory - Rent OST
5. Vergessene Kinder - Tokio Hotel

Posted by: Anne at March 22, 2007 10:38 PM

Sorry for the double but to the poster above me: LOVE the Chemical Brothers!
Additionally, love your calling out your roommate's bullshit. People who say "I basically love all music except for country and techno" really cut out a lot of opportunities.

Posted by: Amanda at March 22, 2007 10:39 PM

again!

"I Do" - Lisa Loeb
"Friends" - Bette Midler
"By My Side" - Ben Harper
"This Used To Be My Playground" - Madonna
"Over" - Lindsay motherfucking Lohan

Wow. Did you just see the coolness average drop? Because I did. Sorry guys.

Hey Amanda!

From one Chemical Brothers lovin' Amanda (my real world name BTW) to another-thanks for the shout.

Agree with the "everything but country and techno" comment. Chemical Brothers and The Crystal Method cohabit quite nicely in my collection with Johnny Cash and Ralph Stanley (I'm an Old Time country gal. My hillbilly roots are showing.). Despite my leanings towards mainstream (as in major label) music, I'd like to think I am pretty open-minded with my taste.

I think it's funny that y'all are so ashamed of anything that's not indie. Embrace the "lame" stuff, people. Because, really? Lookit:

1) You may be right--Billy Joel
2) I want to know what love is--Clay Aiken
3) Every breath you take--The Police
4) C'est si bon--Eartha Kitt
5) A Song for you--Donny Hathaway

I have Clay fucking Aiken on here. Not just any Clay Aiken song--Clay Aiken covering Foreigner. I think that takes the cake. And, really, I'm not ashamed to admit that.

Wow. I'd like to give a special shout out to Meadows, who posted at 10:55 AM today. That is one awesome post with 2 of butt rocks greatest, and one of their worst. I might be wrong, but as a one time connoisseur of butt rock (and occasionally still, I might add), "EveryRose Has It's Thorn" is a Poison tune, not the Crue. Now they very well may have covered it, but not to my knowledge. And Warrant. All I can say is Bravo, because no matter WHAT, I could never include a list with the the band that almost single handedly brought on the death of butt rock. Fuckers.

I'm also a bit disappointed that there are only 2 Whigs songs, and no Twilight Singers from what I've seen. I know this is a "random" exercise (*snicker*) but you'd think that more from a Dulli led outfit would somehow sneak in there.

And what about Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry? No DCD? C'mon Pajibites...

    3. Good Day Sunshine - Beatles
    4. Wise Up - Aimee Mann
    5. Moonlight Sonata: Adagio

I think mine was sufficiently random enough... it's hard to share your IPOD with someone else, you end up with a whole bunch of stuff you would never listen to.

I don't have an ipod so I don't even get to play. =)

Though mine would be some odd mixture of country, Lucero (alternativerockcountry), and Bright Eyes. Listened to "Lifted" on the way to work this morning in that dated CD format...

    Kim,
Your post is so late and irrelevant that, after reading the other 300+ posts that were somewhat timely (exactly the opposite of yours), I'm mystified as to why you'd even bother to post so late as to certainly risk being ignored by other true believers of the Pajiba, since no one reads-
Okay, okay folks, sorry there.. just now realized my own post will be totally lost in the ramble, since it took me another day than it took Kim, bless her heart.
I apologize to all of you, and I'm totally kidding, Kim, believe me. I love spending my Saturday mornings catching up on all the excellent articles I wasn't able to keep up with throughout the working week, and it provides such a great relief to me to sit back and read all the great reviews, and the astoundingly, ever-entertaining hours this site alone gives me (I really haven't felt the need to bother with any other film review site).
Okay, signing off, & please forgive the reading time I took away from you, my precious Pajiba commenters.

    A.M. Radio - Everclear
Carry on Dancing - Savage Garden
    I love you...I'll Kill You - Enigma
    I Ran - A Flock of Seagulls

Well, that's kind of scary, although I shamelessly admit to LOVING #3.

For a more acurate representation of my current listening habits, per a method posted about, um, 5 days ago, from my Top 25 most played:

Una Notte A Napoli - Pink Martini
Kikuchiyo to Mohshimasu - Pink Martini
