We Almost Lost Sarah Silverman Last Week

I’ll be quick to admit that I sometimes play fast and loose with the line between deliberately, prankishly clickbaity headlines and straight-up lies jokes. I don’t (think I) cross it, but I admit that I’m fine deciding where it lies. Like, that headline there is something I would use if Silverman made, say, a sketch or song about getting lost somewhere. (That’s a terrible example, but if she made it, I would watch it, love it, and yes, probably use that stupid headline.)

But this is not that. Sarah Silverman wrote a detailed account of her last week and posted it on her Facebook page. It starts with her not really understanding why she went to the doctor for a sore throat, and ends with every one of us being so very grateful she did.

(Make sure to click that “See more.”)

I don’t want to suggest that everyone should go to the hospital every time they feel the slightest sense of a cold or whatever (especially since the hypochondriac in me is now CONVINCED I have epiglottitis, OBVIOUSLY), but I’m now also definitely never going to tell anyone NOT to do that because seriously,

It would be really great if we didn’t have bodies that are so stupid and delicate and coded, but we do, so please, people, look out for yourselves.

I don’t presume to speak for everyone, but I feel confident speaking here for fans of Silverman, and of humans in general, in saying how very, very relieved we are to know that this wonderful beam of hilarious, brilliant, feminist-as-f*ck light is still here.
