Seth Rogen Apologizes for 'American Sniper' Tweet After Kid Rock Suggested Rogen's Uncle Molested Him

A few days ago, Seth Rogen delivered a perhaps inartfully composed tweet comparing American Sniper to the third act of Inglorious Basterds.

Based on the tweet, I thought he was suggesting that American Sniper’s jingoism was a little overcooked, but I never thought that Rogen had suggested any connections between the subject of the movie, Chris Kyle, and the Nazis. That’s crazy.

But some in the media did draw that connection. And then some celebrities took what some in the media said, and responded to that (rather than Rogen’s actual tweet).

For instance, some country singer named Craig Morgan went after Rogen for the tweet earlier this week:

You are fortunate to enjoy the privilege and freedom of working in and living in the United States, and saying whatever you want (regardless of how ignorant the statement) thanks to people like Chris Kyle who serve in the United States military. Your statement is inaccurate and insensitive to Chris and his family.

I’m sick and tired of people like you running your mouth when you have no idea what it takes for this country to maintain our freedoms. If you and anyone like you don’t like it, leave.

And then, yesterday, Kid Rock decided to weigh in with his divine eloquence, suggesting that Rogen had been molested by his uncle, though I have no idea what bearing molestation that might have on Rogen’s opinion of a movie:

Fuck you Michael Moore, you’re a piece of shit and your uncle would be ashamed of you. Seth Rogen, your uncle probably molested you. I hope both of you catch a fist to the face soon.

Rogen tried to clarify his tweet earlier this week, but nobody would fucking listen, so he attempted to again last night with a longer message:

Rogen also wanted to clarify one other thing:

Thank you, Seth Rogen, for that complete unnecessary apology. The people that want to use you to serve their own political interests probably won’t listen, and the rest of us never thought you said what they think you said, but it’s appreciated, all the same.
