Reminder: Amy Poehler's Early Career Stock Photos Are an Internet Blessing

Amy Poehler will be hosting the Golden Globes this weekend, along with Tina Fey. But before Amy Poehler was a Golden Globe host and the Emmy-nominated star of Parks and Recreation, she was a cast member on Saturday Night Live. Before she was a cast member on SNL, she was a sketch regular on Conan O’Brien’s show. Before that, Amy Poehler posed for stock photos.

As Poehler once noted about the above stock photos on Jimmy Kimmel’s show, “When you look up other actresses’ old modeling pictures on the internet, they look really young and sexy and I look like a sociopath. If you ever had any doubt about my late bloomer-hood, take a look at that.”

Oh, Amy: You’re being too hard on yourself. These pictures are wonderful. Those half-open eyelids, and the casual look of exhaustion; the elegant red-and-white smock; the wrist watch that looks as though it was purchased in a vending machine; and those beautiful flowers, clearly purchased at a grocery store after they’d been sitting for a week. It’s perfection.

You’ve come a long way, Poehler.

For once I can actually say
Amy Poehler.....this celebrity IS better than me.

  • bastich

"Amy Poehler IS Annie Wilkes in Stephen King's 'Misery'!"

  • Alice

The way she's casually leaning on the hospital bed safety rails. Her body language is saying, "Really? Do tell me more about those Matlock reruns you've just been watching. Faaaaascinating..."

  • I would have just tried to pass them off as an early UCB character.

    CRAZY CINDY CANDYSTRIPER!

  • BWeaves

I was going to say, "CANDY STRIPERS FROM HELL!"

Then I accidentally wrote it "CANDY STRIPPERS."

  • Jim

"Candy Strippers from Hell" was the original title of my to-be-published memoirs. You can use it if you like, I've decided to go with "Lagoon of Filth"

  • There are no accidents. ;)
