Martha Stewart vs. Gwyneth Paltrow Round III: When You Come at the King, You Best Not Miss

Martha Stewart and Gwyneth Paltrow are currently embroiled in the biggest turf war since Tupac vs. Biggie, as these two incredibly white, incredibly privileged, incredibly out-of-touch goddesses of domesticity trade pointed barbs with one another in very small but noticeable ways. It’s a passive aggressive war between two women who preach good manners.

And it’s fun.

Martha Stewart shot first, a while back now, suggesting of Gwyneth Paltrow’s attempts to launch GOOP: ‘She just needs to be quiet. She’s a movie star. If she were confident in her acting, she wouldn’t be trying to be Martha Stewart.”

Boom!

But Gwyneth wasn’t rattled. No, ma’am. Last week, she responded, and she owned that: ‘If I’m really honest, I’m so psyched that she sees us as competition. I’m so psyched. I really am.”

Uh huh. In fact, to help launch GOOD into the mainstream, Paltrow hired Martha Stewart’s former chief executive officer, Lisa Gersh, to spearhead the process.

Now, shots have rang out from Martha’s corner again, specifically from a page in Martha Stewart Living. You may recognize the sly dig.

The text reads, in part: “Every Thanksgiving table should be blessed with the presence of a long-married pair who bring out the best in each other, are completely enamored despite their differences.”

That’s cold, Martha, to bring a woman’s divorce into your rivalry. That’s street fighting. Sh*t is getting real, y’all. If you get a mysterious package in the mail, Martha. DON’T OPEN IT.
