I’m a huge fan of Netflix’s new Canadian series Travelers and I have yet to see anyone who wasn’t completely won over by it. As I said in my review, it’s not a perfect show, but it is a perfect show to binge. It’s fun, it’s got a great hook, and it goes down like candy. I am a fan.

I am also a fan of Marcy Warton, the character who inhabits the body of an intellectually disabled woman (or I was a fan of her until that thing happened in the end, although I have a sneaking suspicion it will pay off in season two). I was also looking up the actors on the show, as one is wont to do with a show they love after it’s over, and discovered that Mackenzie Porter — who plays Marcy — has not only appeared in a recurring role on AMC’s Hell on Wheels

… but she played the Olsen twins’ mom in the Unauthorized Fuller House movie.

More importantly, she’s also a Canadian Country Music star, and not a minor one, either. She was awarded 2014 Female Artist of the Year by the Canadian Country Music Association and she was nominated for Country Music Record of the Year last year at the Juno Awards.

What’s more stupefying is that Mackenzie Porter, who looked like this in Travelers

… looks like this as a country music star.

I watched one of her music videos, too, and she’s got a certain Faith Hill thing going on, which is good or bad depending on your preferences. I thought it was a catchy pop country song, but my wife thought it was horrible, although she was mostly put off by the flesh-colored lipstick.

I had no such objections.

Anyway, hopefully Porter can work some of that country-music magic into her character in season 2, assuming it is picked up for another season.
