TMZ celebrates their sixth birthday today. Yes, six years of knowing every single detail about even minor celebrity deaths, right down to the crash photos. Six years of sitting outside stars’ homes and doctors’ appointments under the guise of “entertainment journalism.” Six years of this clownshoe:

Happy birthday, TMZ. Where would we be without you? *sigh* Because I dream about that world sometimes. Life seems happier there.

True story, my brother in law was featured on the front page of TMZ for a short time. He had gone out with his friends for a bachelor party/to see the comedian Greg Giraldo. It also happened to be the night Greg Giraldo died, and he was in the last known photo of Giraldo, which one of his friends sold to TMZ. Brother-In-Law was wearing a "Nantucket Red" (pink) hat and giving the douchiest face imaginable. Oh the shame.

I used to visit their site regularly, back in the "Britney just shaved her own head" days. It was a guilty pleasure, and one that I felt was relatively harmless.

That all came to a grinding halt after Heath Ledger died, when TMZ "journalists" stalked Michelle Williams and her daughter for DAYS outside their home, accosting family members and friends who were visiting to show support. "How are you feeling?" they would ask. How the fuck do you think she feels, ass hat?
