5 Guesses At What Robert Downey Jr.'s Big Avengers-Related Announcement Will Be

By Cindy Davis | Box Office Round-Ups | February 26, 2015 |

Yesterday, RDJ tweeted his Avengers: Age of Ultron Iron Man character poster, and teased a “big announcement” in eight days (March 5th).

Sure, he could be talking about a new Ultron trailer (attached to Chappie, perhaps?), but that seems less of an announcement than — you know — a trailer. So, I’ve spent some time seriously contemplating, and here are are five of the most likely possibilities:

1. Goop Is Taking Over.

In Iron Man 3 Gwyneth Paltrow’s Pepper Potts practically turned into a superhero herself; in light of Marvel slowly coming around to the idea that we’re not going to quit screaming for female-led superhero films, we’ll get word that Potts is taking over the Iron Man franchise. Only, big boy’s getting a makeover and the newest Avenger will be called Steamed Vagina Woman.

2. He’s Realized He’s Too Old to Play Stark/Iron Man; the Search Is On for a Younger Actor.

3. He’s Ready to Admit Iron Man Is Bisexual, and Has Always Been Attracted to Both Hulk and Captain America. (Okay, Thor too.)

I mean, come on!

4. Official Word the Russo Brothers Will Direct Avengers 3 and 4.

We should have heard by now, shouldn’t we?

5. He’s Signed on for More Marvel Films.

RDJ is currently signed to appear in Captain America: Civil War and the two-part Avengers: Infinity War, but the man’s got a financial reputation to keep. So, as they say, onward and upward. Perhaps he’s decided Iron Man 4 is a definite go, or perhaps he’s just inked the most lucrative Marvel deal in the history of ever — Iron Man 4 - 6!

Cindy Davis, (Twitter) is duly ashamed.
